I was fortunate recently talking with a Communist Cuban living in Cuba. I was interested to know that Raúl Castro's thinking about politics that Fidel Castro had traced to the Revolution before being removed from power.
He said that Raul had slowed the changes that had begun Fidel. This of course surprised me is that from the viewpoint of an exile is noticeable a timid attempt at change of Raul, but it had been, only expectations.
I gave myself the task of trying to understand, because this community had that perception. Searching, I found a speech that brought communist ideologues as a major speech by Fidel defining important principles of Socialism. The speech (which can be found on youtube) is in the Aula Magna of the University of Havana, on 17 November 2005 to 8 months to remove him from power.
For in this speech, boring as always, Fidel gives much information of what they were doing and would do in Cuba to rescue its former Soviet honeymoon, but now Bolivarian. I will now only to the energy revolution and the improvement of feeding the people in general.
Fidel was saving electricity primarily in the following words: if you have 3 light bulbs at home, because Fidel is the change of three energy saving light bulbs, which have an old refrigerator, I changed to a new, Chinese, much cheaper ; ... and so with everything. Notice I did not even question what is your need, not only changes an old PC a new one, and as Fidel was the owner of all of Cuba, including the Cubans, these massive changes made throughout the country is logical that the outcome less electricity is observed nationally, with the use of course of less oil. From the point of view of Fidel, so far, is a good move. It is clear that for this formula works and Fidel says explicitly that each team is a little slave to be counted in advance with the oil to generate electricity that the team will use. I hope you now understand one very important, because Fidel is not allowed to sell appliances for self-dollars or even, like DVD players, microwave ovens, electric stoves, air conditioners, etc.. And this point is very important to ensure that no power cuts, as currently living in Cuba in 2005.
For the people, Fidel promises that with these savings, you may increase the ounces of beans to feed people in slavery, he mentions the idea of eliminating the ration card, but ensures more beans. It is good to clarify something, in Cuba, both electricity and beans are subsidized by the government. The Cuban people, is a miserable town. Then. a Cuban slave boy notes that you change the bulbs, TV, refrigerator, if they stay with a large debt, have blackouts and also it will sell quite a bit more expensive beans, this is a great achievement for these little slave where your dad keeps Fidel and consents.
Well, what happened to this aspect of the strategy for Fidel, considered the nerve by communist ideologues, after Fidel was removed from power?. It's easy to say, Raul allowed to freely sell DVD players, microwave ovens, electric stoves, air conditioners, etc.. more computers, cellphones, etc, etc, etc. Raul words left these pillars of socialism Fidelista so prized by communist ideologues, it is also true that in Cuba, Fidel is in charge.
Many wanted to see it as a kind gesture from Raul and beside other things, expected changes coming, and they saw that the coup, which is the GAESA group, which is the military Raulistas merchants to control the entire economy that works in Cuba, they needed freedom to sell, including DVD players, microwave ovens, electric stoves, air conditioners, and more computers, cellphones, etc, etc, etc.
One of the consequences we're already seeing, became the blackouts but the beans did not return, instead go the few they had. From the point of view of the Cuban communist, she was right.
